no way can that sling shot cause that injury? Can it? I know the ball came back at him but he must have hit his head on a rock or something else maybe the handle sling shot? I used wrist rockets for years and those bands can't be that much stronger than tubular?

Yes and yes. The latex bands of today are way more powerful than the old surgery tube bands of back in the day.

Here is one my friend, Mike Snody made out of solid Ti...it will kill a man with a steel ball bearing, no doubt.

Very cool sling shot you have there Earl. I do like that one! Use to love these when I was younger. Still do actually, but haven't fooled with them in a while. ~slash

I want one then. I got bored with my old wrist rocket because the ball bearings would bounce off squirrels unless you had a head shot. Additionally that guy was a good shot. Not easy.

Guys, I watched it again on YouTube. Read the comments therein, for example, the shooter has dried blood (make believe blood that is) on his shirt prior to the "accident." http://youtu.be/iylZq1SWx1w

Good job following up...hard to believe anything you see on the web. Still doesn't change the fact that these slingshots are deadly, but yea not so much when the projectile is bouncing off a board. :D

Earl: You are so right, they can easily be deadly & ruin one's day! That 1 you got from Mike is, like my good friend Carltond said, a real beauty. Mike is a craftsman. I remember those batons he made. I came across this video also, check this out, it confirms what you said:http://youtu.be/VTvBoNaokMk

That sure looks like a real wound to me, and that is just how the head bleads from an injury like that.2centsviolent5
