Today I kicked the habit for good this time................which means more money for fun things instead of going up in smoke. Its not easy but nothing worthwhile is.....

Do it Jay!
I was a pack a day lucky strike smoker for 15 years.
I used cigars to ween myself off and still smoke 6-10 cigars a year but I don't inhale them as much anymore. getting harder to get my monte's ~death
It has been over 6 years and I don't know how I ever smoked.

For me I decided I wasn't a smoker anymore and that was it..........still have the pack with 3 smokes left in it hanging on the office wall. It helped to know I had some left instead of totally finishing the pack. confused0

Good for you. You go cold turkey, or using Chantix or something? I'm about a half a pack a day smoker, but it still adds up. I'm thinking about giving it another go after my vacation next month. I mean the cost of smoking has gone up like 300% in the last five years or so. I guess there is the health factor also. Good luck and hang tough. Oh, and the smell on your clothes, and breath is what I dislike most. sick0 ILK
One less guy I've got to put on a ventilator in my Intensive Care Unit!
After 14 years, I was dipping and smoking Marlboro reds - got pissed and threw both in the trash...tired of something having me and me not having it.
Congrats again.

It's almost funny....I was reading this and realized I need to get a pack. What's strange, is I think the more they go up in price, the more I like them. I have to quit, but I like them.....I got to go, I have to get down to the gas station. Thanks everyone for understanding.

First of all thanks to all my friends for your well wishes....
Its been a week and I'm doing good, even past the stress test of digging the $%^^%$ cable tv wire out of the ground with the rototiller! Even passed the beer drinking test too! When I started smoking Cig's where 39 cents a pack. It feels good not being teathered to smoking. I guess Dalton knives are my only remaining vice.....
Oh yeah, I tried the nicotine patches but gave up......they where too hard to keep lit!
I'm really glad we have our own forum...its kinda like having our own reserved table in the bar.

I appreciate that! When it comes time, my coaching never works, I use to think that I could quit...then bum them off my friends every now and then. That doesn't work and probably never will for me.
I'm in Evansville, your in Paducha KY, right? Do you ever go to the Louisville show?

Hey all! I smoked 2pks a day for 22yrs. I quit Jan.1st I tried to quit several time over the years with no luck. I will say for me chantix did help. It cut down on the headaches and the craving. Now I've got more money for knives:cool:

any of you guys heard about those ecigs? (electronic cigarettes) i just ordered a few diffrent brands and flavors, hopefully that'l do the trick for me... i just love smoking too much, holding it between my fingers, feeling that nice flavour down my throat, blowing out a big cloud, and that sweet sweet nicotine high....awwwhhhhhh..... anyways, these ecigs are supposed to do all that, but without any of the unhealthy side effects like stained teeth, smelly clothes, dirty walls, and of course cancer and related diseases.

8 days off the sticks thanks to ecigs, these things are freakin' SWEET! even better than i could've imagined, i actually prefer these over regular cigarettes, so many cool flavors to choose from... anybody hesitating about getting some of these babies, stop right now and order some right away, best decision i ever made.

Its funny that after a short while away froim the cigs you wonder why you liked them in the first place. Hang in there!

We have departure delays here in Spokane for aircraft going to Denver because of the smoke from the fire. There was one for San Fransisco today, but Im not sure if it was related.
