Today I was called by a paypal employee. He informed me that my account was being limited (frozen) because they suspected I had sold something they deemed inappropriate (Dalton)!! They told me my only way to release my account was to comply with there policies and acknowledge there form before they would release my money! They held my money because they did not like something I had for sale! What the hell is this socialist company doing in my life! Now, nothing because i dumped them forever. I would suggest you do the same before they freeze your paypal account because they don't like what you sell. They own ebay as well and they have the same policies. So to anyone who did not know this your in for a rude awakening if you think these two companies are not watching you. They actually went out on the internet and found this web site and other web sites I have visited and told me I had to delete all my posts before they would give me my money. Who here thinks paypal and ebay should avoided at all cost's? Quote (After a recent review of your account activity, it has been determined that

More likely than not, someone "dropped a dime" on you. Paypal and ebay don't police themselves very well, it cost money. However, if they receive a complaint, they will follow up on it, especially if the COMPLAINT PROVIDES LINKS AND OR SPECIFICS, which they apparently had. Also, they will never tell you they received a tip, they will claim they discovered it themselves. They pretty much depend on the public and some rudimentary software filters...Al

If someone dropped a dime on him, they should have their ass kicked. Just my 2 cents.

Someone for SURE told on you bud. I have never had a problem with Paypal ( knock on wood ) but I also make sure to tell the buyer to never mention the word knife in his comments or in his notes.

Now eBay has pulled my knives in the past, but as Al said, it's a person/s that are turning you in. I don't think that neither really care about the actual knives unless they are autos, but once it's been pointed out, you are toast!!

Hate it for you, but am glad you decided to post here.. From now on, it's all money orders or bank checks. Unless I know you of course! I don't sell that much anyway, but will be sure to remember this.

A few years back I bought and sold a pallet of "apple" electronics... Those fuckers at pp held all my funds, over $40k, for 190 days... In the event I wasnt dealing in the right and or if I was defrauding individuals.

Thus I was out the upfront cash for the merch AND all the profit... I was beyond irate, in fact, I'm getting upset rehashing this buried issue. They would release $6k every now and then as time passed. waiting for "positive" feedback from ebuyers... Wow, I need to shoot thing right now... Thanks alot n8vyc!!! ~swinger

imagine calling an 800 number and having some shit bird non-English speaking foreigner attempt to explain why he has decided to hold YOUR money. OK, im done with this topic.

What a bunch of crap! I have used PayPal since the late 90s and never had an issue. There are thousands of knives on sale everyday on Ebay, and since they own PayPal, why would they want to block their sale?

It is bad enough those asshats are anti-gun, but to be anti-knife too? I just don't get it. Any time I have used PayPal to buy knives, I have never buy too much in the description. Just STC or LTC, etc.

They have no right to hold your money. They already took their fee, so the rest is yours by law. If they want to prevent you from using their service in the future, that is their choice, but to hold your money is total BS and borderline illegal.

I hadn't used my ebay account for a while to sell things, just buy. So I was shocked when they informed me that they would hold the proceeds of my sale from up to two weeks via PayPal since I didn't have recent sales history. That was very annoying and it was the longest two weeks ever waiting for them to release my money.

I don't know about someone telling on you. They have software that monitors the description in the notes field, and can pick out key words. If they flag words like Dalton, Glock, Al Mar, etc, they would flag your transaction. If someone did turn you in, that is beyond ridicultous. Why would anyone paying for a product or accepting payment for a product want to ban you from using it in the future? That is nuts.

And what is up with them scanning the Internet looking for places you frequent? That sounds like something out of a movie.. Not good.

Sorry for your issues man. No wonder so many people are doing money orders only these days. I may just go out and buy one of those credit card swipe devices (Square) to accept credit cards over the Internet and avoid using PayPal anymore.

Come to think of it, they have held my money also. Of course it was released after a week and after positive feedback was left, but that was also just for eBay and sellers as well as buyers protection. Nothing more!!

I am with you on the swipe gizmo too. Sounds like a great idea and that way Paypal can stay out of it. Sure hate calling them too as you always get some foreigner that CAN NOT speak English from squat. They can be a pain, but then again I can see why. Internet is world wide and that's a pile to keep up with.

Note:: When they held my cash, it was due to me having zero feedback at the time. It's been smooth since, but have had them to place a hold on others when I was selling, and was also advised not to ship said item/s until they contacted me again. They do protect you both ways! 34rE##

What you went through is insane! Terrible. Something like that would make me friggin' homeless. I'm glad you were able to wait but I'm sure it greatly inconvenienced you financially. Those MF'ers! Ever incurr to you that they were probably making interest on your hard earned $ all along? I wonder if that comes into play? I know that at my job they encourage you to contribute to the 401K pension fund which is fine BUT it's based solely on mutual funds AND they're making $ on the $ all the employees have in their. They make it seem like they're sooooooo looking out for you, the employee, BS, all about their making $! Can't touch it till 62 just like w/ SS. And w/ the way the stock market sucks, I sometimes think the $ I contribute weekly is a waste but you gotta save something. My co. used to match up to the 1st. 6%, etc., but they cut that shit in 1/2 so that amounts to diddly squat. Sorry for going off on this big rant-I just wanted to say that I feel for what you went through. A travesty! I have PayPal but have only used it a couple times.
My method of payment is MO's-has been forever. Can't tell you how many hundreds of dollars or thousands I've spent on them over the yrs. (buck a pop)? But that's OK-they work. And USPS ones are best. W/ shut up now.
